Have you received a negative decision on an immigration application you have submitted to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)? Getting these refusal letters is no fun and you wonder if you can do anything about it!! If you believe the immigration has made the wrong decision based on the documents you have provided you can ask for reconsideration.
Reconsideration essentially is the exact same application you have submitted that states to the immigration officer that you have included all documentation they are requesting for in the original application they have received and was refused based on exact grounds.
Let’s say you have submitted a Visitor Visa application and you have included enough financial means such as bank statements and have included passport data pages to demonstrated travel history and the officer comes back and denies the application based on lack of travel history and lack of funds available. If you believe after reviewing the file that there is enough travel history and enough funds for the Visitor Visa application, you can re-file the application and request the officer to reconsider.
A reconsideration is not an appeal, a reconsideration is essentially telling the officer I don’t think you reviewed the documents and those documents that you wanted we have already included. Now you will be surprised that how often the reconsiderations are approved by officers.
So if you’re submitting a Visitor Visa application or any other applications especially temporary documents and you know that you submitted a strong application, don’t be afraid to re-file and ask the officer to reconsider the application.
The downfall to it is that you have to repay the government fee as you have to upload the application or resubmitting it. In order for the officer to review it again the government fees have to be paid. Also, the officer has no obligation to respond to the reconsideration they may just ask you to submit a brand new application. However, at Akrami & Associates we have asked officers for reconsideration and have been quite successful in getting the approval.
So if you have submitted your own application and you believe you have submitted a strong application, give us a call today!! We will review your application and will determine if it has the merits for us or yourself to file for reconsideration.
We look forward from hearing from.
With Akrami & Associates there is always a way!!
