When travelling as a Business Visitor to Canada you have to demonstrate to the officer at the Port of Entry your sole intention is to conduct business and will not enter the Canadian Labour Market.
A Business Visitor is someone who does not enter the Canadian Labour Market instead he/she visits Canada for conferences, seminars, gives lectures, attends meetings, trains staff on products purchased from the foreign company or comes in to fulfill the terms of the After Sales Service Agreement such as repairing the product when it breaks down.
When arriving at the Port of Entry the immigration officer looks for few important documents such as having a valid passport, no criminal background or major health issues as this could make you inadmissible to Canada. Also, when travelling to Canada you have to show sufficient supporting funds that you are able to support yourself during your stay and that you will exit once your visa expires.
If you happen to be considered inadmissible to Canada you may be eligible to apply for a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) or Criminal Rehabilitation depending on the nature of the offense and when it was completed. Please see our videos on TRP and Criminal Rehabilitation if you are Denied Entry to Canada for an inadmissibility issue.
To have a successful entry as Business Visitor you must demonstrate that your main source of income is coming outside of Canada and that you will not enter the Canadian Labour Market. If the officer believes you do not meet the definition of Business Visitor you may have to apply for a Work Permit and perhaps go through a Labour Market Impact Assessment.
If you were Denied Entry as a Business Visitor but you know that your sole purpose is to conduct Business but were unable to provide the supporting documents requested by the officer then contact us today!! We will help you compile all the necessary documents to demonstrate to the officer you are a Business Visitor.
