When writing an invitation letter you need to include the following information:

• date
• information on the person who is getting invited to Canada such as their legal name, date of birth, address, telephone number, why they are visiting Canada, your relationship to the visitor, how long do they intend to stay in Canada, where they will be staying, how they will pay for their visit (food, accommodation etc.), when they exit Canada etc.
• information about the inviter (host), legal name, date of birth, Canadian address, Canadian telephone number, job title, their status in Canada (providing proof of status by providing photocopy of passport or other identity documents)
• signature of the inviter

Remember when it comes to obtaining a temporary visa to Canada as the applicant you must provide ample documents proving your intent is only temporary in Canada. Ties to home country can include assets you own back home, family obligations, persons that are dependent on you, employment back home etc.
