Changes to Canadian Citizenship Video

For many permanent residents in Canada, their ultimate goal is to successfully obtain Canadian citizenship in Canada. Keep in mind, there are specific eligibility requirements and conditions that must be met prior to applying for Canadian citizenship. However, there are new changes and regulations that have been implemented as of this year that affect the processing of applications for Canadian citizenship. For instance, one of the biggest changes that has come from the new regulations is the change for the residency obligations in Canada. Previously, permanent residents must reside and accumulate at least four years of residency in Canada out of the six years prior to applying. Now, permanent residents must reside and accumulate at least three years of residency in Canada out of the five years prior to applying. For more information on more changes to the Canadian citizenship application process, please watch our video in its entirety.
