Express Entry Invitation to Apply Letter

What does Invitation to Apply mean?

It means that you have been selected to apply for immigration to Canada by either; the Federal Government, a Canadian employer or by a Province/Territory nomination.

In order for you to receive an Invitation to Apply you must already be part of the Express Entry Pool.

If you do receive an invitation you may be responsible for showing proof of the information that you have provided on your profile.

Why will you receive an Invitation?

If you have received an Invitation to Apply then that means that you are among the top ranked individuals within the Express Entry pool. The rank is based on your skills, education and experience, a provincial nomination or if you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.

How will you know that you got one?

If you get an Invitation to Apply you will receive a message on your account that will tell you:

  • What your next step is going to be
  • What program that you have been invited under

What do you do once you got an invitation?

You will have 60 days to submit your application for Permanent Residence in one of the immigration programs, online.

If you submit a completed application along with all of the appropriate and required supporting documents then your application should be processed within 6 months.

What if you don’t want to accept your Invitation to Apply?

If you choose to not accept your invitation then you will be put back into the Express Entry Pool along with the other candidate again. In order for you to be put back in, you still must meet all of the minimum criteria.

There may be necessary steps that need to be taken in order for you to be considered in the pool again. This may include updating your profile of any changes or information.

You need to keep in mind that there is not a guarantee that you will be Invited to Apply again but, declining an invitation will not negatively affect you or your chances of being invited later on.

If you do not decline the offer made within 60 days the invitation will expire and you will have to start again with a new profile.
