Express Entry Point System Video

Express Entry Point System

The Express Entry point system is essentially divided into four different categories (please see link https://thevisa.ca/express-entry-to-canada/express-entry-2015-comprehensive-ranking-system-crs-criteria.html).

Section A, summarizes the points you can accumulate based on Core/Human Capital Factors meaning you get evaluated based on age, level of education, official language proficiency and Canadian work experience.

So if you are an individual with a spouse or common-law partner  the maximum you can score is 460 points. For age you get a maximum of 100 points, for level of education you get maximum of 140 points, for official language proficiency you get maximum of 150 points and for Canadian work experience you get maximum of 70 points.

While being single the maximum points you can accumulate  is 500 points. So for age you get maximum of 110 points, for level of education you get maximum 150 points, for official language proficiency you get maximum of 160 points and Canadian work experience you get maximum of 80 points.

Section B, summarizes the points you can accumulate for having Spouse/Common Law-Partner meaning your spouse or partner gets points for level of education, official language proficiency and Canadian work experience. Maximum you can score is 40 points, if you are single obviously you don’t get any points. So for level education your partner can get maximum of 10 points, for official language proficiency can get maximum of 20 points and Canadian work experience maximum of 10 points.

A. Core/human capital (max. 460)+ B. Spouse or common-law partner factors (max. 40) = Maximum 500 points

Section C, you get assessed for Skill Transferability meaning immigration Canada looks for how you can transfer your skill attained from back home and apply it in the Canadian economy. So you are assessed based on education, foreign work experience and certificate of qualification (for people in trade occupations).

For education you can get points for good/strong official languages proficiency and a post-secondary degree of maximum of 50 points and if you have Canadian work experience and a post-secondary degree you get maximum of 50 points.

For foreign work experience if you have good/strong official languages proficiency (Canadian Language Benchmark [CLB] level 7 or higher) and foreign work experience you get maximum of 50 points and if you have Canadian work experience and foreign work experience you get maximum of 50 points.

For Certificate of qualification (for people in trade occupations) if you have good/strong official languages proficiency and a certificate of qualification then you can get maximum of 50 points.

A. Core/human capital + B. Spouse or common-law partner + C. Transferability factors = Maximum 600 points

Section D, you get Additional Points for Arranged employment (positive Labour Market Impact Assessment required) 600 points maximum and if you get Provincial Nomination you get 600 points maximum.

A. Core/human capital + B. Spouse or common-law partner factors + C. Transferability factors + D. Additional points = Grand total – Maximum 1,200 points

Once you add up all your points together you can upload your information on the government portal. You will then be ranked amongst your peers, the highest ranked candidate will be invited by the government of Canada to continue their application either under Federal Skilled Trades, Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class or the Provincial Nominee Program.

If you have any questions for the Express Entry category and you would like us to assess and upload your application on the government portal to give you the best possible chance to be selected to get an Invitation to Apply then don’t hesitate to contact us. Remember the government of Canada promises to finalise PR application within six months of getting the invitation to apply.
