Are you skilled worker and like to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program to obtain permanent resident status? There are six selections factors when applying under this program these include:
When it comes to language ability you need to take recognized language test to determine your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB). The language test must be approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) in which minimum CLB has to be 7 to qualify (please see CIC website for latest updated requirement). The test shows if you meet the level for speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Your education is based on your credentials in terms of schooling you have previously taken such secondary, post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree. If you completed a foreign credential, your report must show your education is equal to a completed Canadian secondary (high school) or post-secondary certificate or diploma or degree proven by Educational Credential Assessment (ECA Report) approved by CIC.
The minimum requirements you need to meet as a skilled worker includes having at least one year of continues full-time or an equal amount of time in part-time. This includes about 1560 hours or about 30 hours per week. Your work experience must be in the same job and within the last 10 years at a skill type 0, A or B of the national occupational code (NOC). Remember you cannot internship or paid volunteer work towards your hours.
Having Arranged Employment will increase your chances for PR options as you can get maximum of 10 points for arranged employment. Arranged Employment means that you have a valid full time and permanent job with an employer in Canada. If you do not have arranged employment do not worry this does not mean you do no qualify but it strengthens your application. Remember the job has to be arranged before you can apply to come to Canada as federal skilled worker.
Your age also plays a role in your application as you get points for age as well. The maximum points you can score for age under the Federal Skilled Worker Program is 12 points. For example under the age of 18 you get 0 points, between 18-35 you get 12 points, 36=11 points, 37=10 points, 38=9 points, 39=8 points, 40=7points, 41=6 points, 42=5 points, 43=4 points, 44=3 point, 45=2 points, 46=1 points, 47 and older zero points.
The immigration officer also assesses how well you can adapt in Canada. Adaptability means demonstrating that you have the ability to care of yourself and your family as you establish life in Canada. This can be done by proving you have experience in Canada, funds available or family support in Canada. The maximum points you can score for adaptability is 10 points.
