The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for individuals who have experience in a particular field and have developed a certain type of skill-set through their work experience. If you feel that you have work experience and can be a valuable addition to Canadian society then the Federal Skilled Worker Program may be an option for you.
If you are interested in applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, there is great news for you! Your chances of being eligible to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program just increased, as Citizenship and Immigration Canada has recently expanded the list of Eligible Occupations to encompass 50 occupations. Effective May 1, 2014, if you have one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in one of the 50 Eligible Occupations, you are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence status under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. With 50 Eligible Occupations, this also means Citizenship and Immigration Canada is accepting more Federal Skilled Worker applications! A maximum of 1000 applications will be accepted per Eligible Occupation. This means there is greater chance for you to qualify if you meet the other eligibility requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
