Are you an employer and looking into submitting a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) application for foreign worker you have hired? If so there are certain changes that have taken place for LMIA application and steps you need take to obtain a Positive LMIA from Service Canada.
The first change is that it used to be known as Labour Market Opinion (LMO) and now it is known as Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). The second change is the government fees which has changed from $275.00 to $1000.00 so you want to be mindful of that when you submit your application and ensuring you have all the documents included with your application.
Another change is that when hiring a foreign worker for a high wage position you would need to include a transitional plan when offering a wage that is above the medium hourly wage. So what this means is that as the employer you need show you are going to make efforts to train and recruit Permanent Residents or Canadian citizens for this position and assisting the foreign worker into becoming a Permanent Resident of Canada.
If you are an employer and like to hire a foreign worker but are confused about the process you can contact us and one of our immigration experts can assist you with the LMIA and Work Permit application.
