There are two different types of visas you can apply for when visiting Canada these include, Single Entry Visa and Multiple Entry Visa. The Single Entry Visa just as it name sounds, is a single entry into Canada meaning you cannot enter back once you exit Canada. Single Entry Visa is suggested for those who wish to visit Canada briefly for tourism purposes in which they have no need to come back to Canada. Multiple Entry Visa on the other is for those who have a need to visit Canada on many occasions and suggested for those who a familial ties in Canada or like to travel for business.
A Visitor Visa is typically valid for up to 6 month at a time and can be extended upon expiration day. If you are submitting a Multiple Entry Visitor Visa then ensure to include why you need to enter and exit Canada on multiple occasions.
Not everyone needs to apply for a Visitor Visa to Canada, these are only for visitors that come from non-visa exempt countries such Pakistan, Iran, India, Nigeria, Turkey, Yemen, Philippines and many more that need to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa(see CIC website for entry requirements by country).
