When you are considering coming to Canada, either as temporary resident or a Permanent Resident, the first question you will likely ask yourself is “How do I come to Canada?” This is a good question. Depending on your purpose for coming to Canada and your specific circumstances, there will be different options available to you. Thankfully, Canada has a comprehensive immigration system, and therefore, there more likely than not be a suitable Program for you through which you can apply to Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
One of the programs established by Citizenship and Immigration Canada is the Federal Skilled Worker Program. This program is for individuals who have work experience in a particular area.
The Eligible Occupation Route
One way you can qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Program is if you have one year of full-time continuous paid work experience in an occupation that is listed in the List of Eligible Occupations established by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Previously, the List of Eligible Occupations only consisted of 25 occupations and the list was not very narrow. For some the Federal Skilled Worker Program was not an option for them because their occupation was not included in the List of Eligible Occupations. However, this has changed! Effective May 1, 2014, the List of Eligible Occupations has expanded to include 50 diverse occupations. Now you may find your occupation on the List and you may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program.
At Akrami & Associates we have the skills, knowledge and expertise to put together a strong application for you under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, taking into consideration your unique circumstances and experiences.
