Criminal Rehabilitation
What Is Criminal Rehabilitation
There are a few things you should take care of before you apply for criminal rehabilitation:
- Read the instructions carefully before you start filling out the application form.
- Ensure that you are eligible to apply for rehabilitation.
- Gather necessary documents and papers that are listed in the checklist in the application form. Be advised that the list of documents on the CIC website is generic. It applies to all individuals who are inadmissible to Canada. Meaning some documents may not apply to you.
- Take a photocopy of the blank form and use it as a working copy so that you can keep it for the sake of records.
- Fill all the forms carefully and completely. Use black ink.
- You should include the fee for processing.
- Do not forget to Sign the form with a date.
If you have been charged with an offence which has been pardoned or discharged and you would like to be admitted to Canada, then you should provide the following:
- A complete list of the charges, court dispositions, convictions and pardons.
- Any documents that show you were not convicted of the offence
These will help the officer in deciding whether you are admissible to Canada and perhaps might not even require you to apply for criminal rehabilitation.
After acquiring the pardon copy, the applicant can send a photocopy of the pardon he received to the Canadian immigration office in his country along with your application for a visa. If the applicant is travelling to Canada, then the applicant needs to carry it along with him. If the applicant is convicted of two or more summary convictions, then he gets admissible to Canada if he waited 5 years after completing the sentences and if he has no other convictions on him.
