If you are planning to visit Canada, and you are from a visa-exempt country, you will need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization, better known as an ETA, prior to travelling to Canada by air. If you do require an ETA, or you think you do, then watch our video below to find out whether you need an ETA and what are the steps in order to obtain one.
The ETA, which is an Electronic Travel Authorization, was introduced as a new entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals who wish to enter Canada by air. For these individuals, they do not require a visa to enter Canada. Additionally, if you are travelling by land or sea, you do not require an ETA if you are a visa-exempt foreign national. Whether you need an ETA or not strictly depends on how you intend on travelling to Canada. In order to find out whether your country of origin is a visa-exempt country, it is always best to go onto the government website and check prior to applying. If your country is not a visa exempt country, then you will require a visa prior to entering Canada. There are important documents that you must provide prior to applying for an ETA. In order to receive an ETA, you must provide all of these documents online and pay the ETA fee, then you will receive your ETA within minutes, should you application be successful.
