Each year over 30 million temporary residents visit Canada for temporary basis. These temporary visitors include tourists, foreign workers and international students. Temporary Resident Visas (TRV) also known as Visitor Visas are required by individuals that come from non-visa exempt countries such as Pakistan, India, Afghanistan etc.
Visitor Visa is one of the most difficult applications to get approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). The reason why CIC does not approve these applications easily is because they want to make sure the applicant will leave once their visa expires. A lot of times when applicants submit their own application they fail to demonstrate ties to their home country. Meaning they are unable to provide sufficient supporting documents that will connect them back to their home country. Other reasons an application can be refused not having a detailed invitation letter, not having affidavit to support your application, application is incomplete or having used an old form. These all play an important role when submitting an application to CIC.
There are two ways of obtaining a Visitor Visa to Canada, one way is by submitting a paper application to the consulate and the other is submitting the application online. We typically recommend that you submit an application online for two reasons, one it is relatively simple in terms of scanning the documents and uploading them and two it much faster when it comes to processing times. When you submit an application online it takes approximately two-three weeks sometimes even processed faster. When submitting a paper application to the consulate it can take about three-four months in processing.
If you are planning on applying for a Visitor Visa, it is always important that you have all documentation and forms ready. Your application should be as complete as possible so that the immigration officer is satisfied that you meet the requirements.
