Canada Live in Caregiver Application

To file a successful Live in Caregiver application there are few key things you want to include in the application. The first important document is that the applicant must include approved Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This document basically shows Service Canada that the employer has put efforts to hire Canadian Citizens or Permanents Residents but was unsuccessful and therefore had no choice but to offer the position to a foreign worker.

When employers posts job advertisements Service Canada looks to see if it has been posted for at least four weeks and if the employer used different methods of advertisement such two different websites or advertising at a website and newspaper. The immigration officer wants to make sure Canadians got the first opportunity prior to giving the position away to a foreign worker. So the methods of recruitment used can be also explained to the officer that every attempt was made but were unsuccessful with securing a Canadian candidate. Please LMIA videos for detailed steps the employer needs to take to get a Positive LMIA.

The second important part of the Live in Caregiver application is the written contract between employer and employee. So the basics of the contract need to show how many hours that employee will be working, the job description, job title, location of employment, where the applicant will be residing, accommodations that are covered, hourly wage, benefits the employer will be offering, start date and other relevant information.

Also, the caregiver has to provide documentation that will show he/she meets the education requirements. This can be done by providing documentation that shows successful completion of equivalent Canadian secondary schooling. Another requirement is that the caregiver has to have at least six months of school training or one year of full time work experience. The applicant also has to demonstrate good knowledge of English/French this can be done by showing IELTS result (IELTS exam is not mandatory but would be helpful) or provide any others school documents that show you can speak and write in English/French such as report card or school transcript.

These are mainly the documents you need to send with the application, there are other documents such as the caregiver’s credentials, the medical history and other important documents.

Documentation is very crucial for immigration under the Live-in Caregiver Program. The work permit for under the program depends heavily on the contents of the employment contract. This program also entails a lot of responsibilities on the employer and the caregiver. We have helped hundreds of clients through this program. We can help you too.
