As of December 23, 2014 Canada has welcomed more than 2000 citizens and this influx of citizens in Canada is based on the new reforms with the Citizenship Act. The new citizenship decision making process came into effect August 1, 2014 which basically stream lined the three step process into one. So this efficiency has caused Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to approve far more citizenship applications. Since the implementation of the process more than 150,000 people have become citizens showing a 90% increase from the same period last year. This is great news for Permanent Residents that want to obtain Canadian Citizenship and are encouraged to do it sooner than later to avoid changes in the future that can possibly make obtaining citizenship difficult. Processing times for citizenship application have slightly decreased as CIC wants to welcome more citizens and eliminating application backlogs.
