A skilled worker is a person whose occupation needs formal education or some specialized training and whose occupation or job falls under the NOC skill types 0 or A, or B. NOC means national occupational classification, which is a list of occupations that are eligible for work permits to work in Canada.

Federal skilled worker, in short FSW, is chosen as a permanent resident depending on the ability of the person to settle in Canada. The FSW should be able to take part in the economy of Canada. The following are the factors that are considered by the Immigration Department to select a federal skilled worker as a permanent resident:

  1. Language skills- English or French language skills
  2. Education qualification
  3. Work experience and
  4. Some other factors that support the person’s ability to prosper in Canada.

Step 1: Forms and documents

When you complete the forms, ensure the following:

  1. Validate the generic application form. Click the validate button given on the form. After clicking the button, the fields with incorrect information or no information will be outlined in red colour. These fields are to be filled out and then validated by the application
  2. Print the barcode page, which comes after the validation of the form
  3. Then sign in the appropriate place
  4. Include the printed barcode page along with the application.
  5. Also, take a printed copy of all other forms and should sign them wherever needed.

Step 2: pay the government fees

You will need to pay the following fees:

  1. The processing fee: you should include all the persons who are coming to Canada. Based on the number of individuals, pay the applicable fee.
  2. Other fees: there are a few other fees that are to be paid to 3rd parties:
    • Medical exam fee
    • Police certificate fee
    • ECA fee
    • Language test fee
  3. Fee for the services at the application center, if used one

After paying all the fees, complete the fee payment form and attach it to your application.

Step 3: submitting the completed application

Before submitting the completed application, make sure that you have filled out all necessary fields in all forms and included the appropriate government fees for processing.
