Filing for a Spousal Sponsorship Application

There are three important documents to look at when filing a spousal sponsorship application.

  1. documents that includes information about the sponsor (the immigration officer will look at if he/she meets the eligibility criteria to sponsor a spouse to Canada- not on social assistance, PR card holder or Canadian citizen, has not inadmissibility issues etc.
  2. Identity documents from the person that is getting sponsored such birth certificates, passport data page etc
  3. Joint documents are documents you need to show that demonstrates genuineness in the relationship. These documents include the marriage certificate, information of where and how you met, how did your relationship evolve and where it is today etc. A really important part of the documents is to include ways that both you and your partner have interacted with each other during your time apart such as phone calls, FaceTime, Skype, email whatever it may be, just include screenshots in your application. The more proof you provide to demonstrate genuineness in your relationship the higher the chance of approval. So ensure you include ample amount of documents to prove genuineness in your relationship as it is crucial part of your spousal sponsorship application. The immigration officers want to make sure that it is a genuine relationship and not a fake one (immigration fraud).
