How to Qualify for a Study Permit
There are five main requirements for Canadian Study Permit.
- have the acceptance letter from a designated learning institution in Canada (see government website for the list of colleges or universities you can study in Canada.
- proof you have sufficient funds to support your stay in Canada. Showing enough funds for your entire stay in Canada and enough funds for your return to ticket home once your study permit expires. If you have family members supporting you provide proof of letters and bank statements from them. Outline your expenses in Canada, how much you have and much you will potentially spend
- have no inadmissibility issues, if you have a criminal record you may eligible to apply for TRP or Criminal Rehabilitation
- be in good health and go through a medical examination to show you are not a health risk to Canadian citizens
- satisfies the immigration officer that your intent to Canada is temporary by showing ties to your home country such as bank statements, property, family responsibility etc.
