Inland vs Overseas Sponsorship Video

Inland vs Overseas Sponsorship

Spousal Sponsorship applications are when two people would like to get together and sponsor their significant other whether they are in Canada or outside of Canada. For spousal application you can submit your application either inside of Canada or outside of Canada. When submitting an Inland Spousal Sponsorship application as the applicant you have to be physically present in Canada. The benefit of Inland Sponsorship is that you can be together with your spouse while your application is being processed. Also, when submitting an Inland Sponsorship application your spouse can apply for an Open Work Permit along with the spousal application. The downside to Inland Sponsorship application is that you cannot exit the country once the application is submitted. If you decide to exit the country the officer may deny you entry and ask you to submit an Overseas Sponsorship application. The benefit of Overseas Sponsorship application is that they are sometimes processed faster than Inland Sponsorship application. Processing times depend on your spouse’s country of citizenship. Please see cic.gc.ca for application processing time as each country has different time frames. Also, with Overseas Sponsorship application you can travel with ease, you are not constraint to one location.
