An inland application has various pros and cons. It allows the individual whom you are sponsoring to stay with you in Canada throughout the process of the application. This is with or without the person having legal status, which is one of the benefits of this application. Another benefit is the fact that the person you are trying to sponsor can also apply for an open work permit.
This is a great opportunity especially to those who are illegal in the country, because in a couple of months after filing the application your spouse will be able to work anywhere in Canada. The downfall of inland is the time, as it might take 3 or 4 months longer. The benefits of an overseas application is that it is usually a faster processing time. Furthermore, it allows the person you are trying to sponsor to travel to Canada as long as they have another document with them.
If you have any further questions regarding either of these applications, feel free to give us a call as we are always happy to help.
