If you come from a country that is not considered visa exempt then as the visitor to Canada you have to apply for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) also known as Visitor Visa. Part of the Visitor Visa application is including an Invitation Letter from the host which can be a family, friend, co-worker etc. When you include an invitation letter it helps demonstrate your purpose in Canada. When including an invitation letter ensure it answers fundamental questions an immigration officer will be looking for such as who, what, where and why.
Information for person getting invited
If you as the host is providing financial support to the visitor then include supporting documents that can proof you are financially capable of taking care of the visitor during their time of stay by providing bank statements.
Information about the host (the inviter)
If you are travelling for tourism purposes and you have no family or friend to write you the letter of invitation then just include ample details of your purpose of visit, places you will visit, reservations you have made, how you will support yourself during your time of stay etc.
