Wondering if you need a Study Permit to Canada to study? Most international students that want to study in Canada require a study permit unless their course of study is less than 6 months then you are exempt from it. So when you come to study in Canada for a program that is less than 6 months it does not equate to a diploma or degree and may equate to certification. So if you choice of study is less than 6 months you simply apply for Visitor Visa and explain you want to study for program that is less than 6 months. So the documentation is pretty much similar to a Visitor Visa, the only difference is you need to include your acceptance letter and tuition you have paid for. So for the 6 months program if the officer is satisfied with your documents he/she will issue a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV).
If you are member of foreign armed forces such as working for the military you do not require a study permit, however your kids and spouse that want to study in Canada require a Study Permit.
Foreign national that are registered as Indian you do not require a Study Permit.
Ensure you include ample documents to show your intent to Canada is temporary and will exit once your Study Permit expires.
