The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot is a community driven program designed to extend the benefits economically of immigration to smaller communities. This is done by creating a path to permanent residency for skilled foreign workers looking to live and work in the participating communities

What can you expect from the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program:
Since this pilot program is community driven, the community will
- Assess prospective candidates who
- Best fit the needs of the community economically
- Have the intention of staying in the community
- Have an employment opportunity that meets the community requirements
- Connect newcomers with members of the community for settlement services and mentoring opportunities
- Recommend candidates for permanent residence to the IRCC for final decision
Steps to applying for PR under the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot:
There are 4 steps to applying for permanent residence under this pilot:
- Must meet both
- IRCC eligibility requirements and
- Community specific requirements
- Find an eligible job within one of the participating communities
- Submit your application for recommendation to the community once you have a valid job offer
- If a community recommends you, you can now apply for permanent residence.

Eligibility Requirements: Who can apply
To be deemed eligible for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot Program, the IRCC has a list of eligibility requirements. You must:
- Meet or exceed the language requirements
- Meet or exceed education requirements
- Have qualifying work experience have graduated from a post-secondary learning institution in the recommending community
- Intend to live in the community
- Settlement funds- have enough money to support your transition into the community
- Meet all community specific requirements
Providing you meet all of these requirements, you can now start looking for an eligible job within the community.

For all community applications, you must
- Provide proof that you meet all requirements
- Have an eligible job offer
If a community recommends, you can apply for permanent residence.
