If you are travelling to Canada to supervise or train the installation or maintenance of a product or machinery bought by the Canadian company then you are exempt from the Work Permit. Under the provision of Business Visitor supervisors and trainers are exempt from the Work Permit. For example, if the US company bought equipment from the Canadian company they can send a supervisor to make sure the products or equipment are working properly and making sure that the company is satisfied with the equipment bought. Also, you are exempt from the Work Permit if you need to send technicians to train the Canadian technicians to service the equipment going forward. As long as they are training or supervising you are exempt from the Work Permit as a Business Visitor.
