Express Entry Profile Questions and Answers
Questions and Answers for Express Entry Profile
In this article, I will address detailed questions and answers for Express Entry profiles that many foreign nationals create and have many questions about. This article is created in order for you to further understand how the Express Entry profile works. Express Entry is intended for foreign skilled workers who would like to obtain permanent residency in Canada and qualify under specific federal economic immigration programs, such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program. It is essentially created with the intention to assist foreign nationals to permanently reside in Canada based on several factors that will ultimately benefit the Canadian economy. If you feel as though you would be eligible to apply for Express Entry and create your own profile, I suggest you read our article “Express Entry Eligibility & Guide to Profile Creation” before reading this question and answer article. This article is intended to clarify any misunderstanding or confusion with regards to the Express Entry profile.
Q: Is it possible to have more than one Express Entry profile?
A: Unfortunately, no. The Express Entry system only allows an individual to have one profile at a time. This is strictly enforced by Canada’s Immigration law. Furthermore, if an individual decides to create an Express Entry profile with the intention of potentially having a better chance at being invited for permanent residency, this is unfortunately not the case. You will not have any chance of being selected if you have more than one profile.
Q: I’m confused, the online tool stated that I was eligible for Express Entry; however, my completed profile states that I am not. Which one is accurate?
A: This is a very important and common question to ask. Specifically, the online tool is only intended to ask general questions to applicants to determine whether they may be eligible under one of the economic programs under Express Entry. However, the Express Entry profile asks more specific and detailed questions with regards to the applicant’s qualifications and skills. Therefore, it is entirely possible that the online tool stated that you were eligible without knowing the entire circumstance. After you provided more detailed information in your profile, it could ultimately state that you are in fact ineligible. Furthermore, applicants should only consider the Express Entry profile in order to fully assess whether they are eligible.
Q: I received a message in my account that states my profile has been updated. Yet, I have not updated it today nor do I see any updates. What does this mean?
A: Whether you have updated your profile yourself or Immigration has sent you an update on your profile, it can take up to 24 hours for the online system to update and show the appropriate message. An example of this would be if you updated your profile on Thursday night, you may potentially only receive the message on Friday night.
Q: I accidently withdrew my Express Entry profile! Is there any way to retrieve it or fix this?!
A: Unfortunately, not. Once you withdraw your Express Entry profile, you must create a new one if you would like to re-enter the pool of eligible candidates. Additionally, you will have to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements for Express Entry at that time.
Q: I found out that I’m ineligible under Express Entry and cannot change my profile. What can I do?
A: If you have found out that you are ineligible under Express Entry, you will not be able to change the details of that profile. Once a profile has been determined as ineligible, the profile is no longer eligible and the applicant cannot change any of its information. Therefore, you must create a new profile if you would like to change or update any information for Express Entry. In addition, you will have to meet the eligibility requirements for Express Entry at the time of the new application. Thus, if you made any mistake on your first Express Entry profile or if your personal circumstances have changed since your first profile, there may be a chance that you will be eligible. However, if nothing has changed since your first profile, then you will most likely be ineligible again.
Q: Is it possible to withdraw my Express Entry profile?
A: Yes, it is possible. You may withdraw your Express Entry profile by going to your Express Entry account and go down to your submitted applications or profiles. If you get here successfully, you will see a button with the words “Withdraw profile” written on it. Then you can withdraw your profile. However, please keep in mind, once the profile has been withdrawn, you cannot access the profile again. If you would like to apply for Express Entry in the future, you will have to apply with a new profile and include all of your information and documentation once again.
