If you have a spouse or common law partner in Canada who is willing to sponsor you for permanent residence, you can use this as a viable route to immigrate to Canada. There are other requirements on the sponsor as well.
Recently, the Federal Government has entered into agreements with Provincial Governments to allow a Province to Nominate a candidate for Permanent Residence based on meeting certain criteria of the province.
