Nova Scotia Nominee Program General Information

Nova Scotia is a province known for its beauty, tasty cuisine, and high standard of living. If you are interested in living in this vibrant province, its Nominee Program may be the route for you.

Nova Scotia has opened its doors even wider with its Regional Labour Market Demand Stream of the Nominee Program. What’s so great about this Stream? You do not require a job, as long as you intend to pursue an occupation that is “in demand” in the province.

One of the first questions you have to ask yourself is whether the occupation you intend to pursue is included in the In Demanded Occupation List provided by the Province for its Regional Labour Market Demand Stream of the Nominee Program.

Next, you have to consider whether the occupation you intend to pursue is in demand in Nova Scotia, and specifically, in the area of Nova Scotia you plan on living in.

How Does Nova Scotia Assess Demand?

In assessing the regional demand for an application under the Nominee Program Labour Market Demand Stream, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program will assess the labour market demand for the region you plan to live in.

When assessing the labour market demand in your region, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, will consider the following factors:

  • Labour market information provided by the Government of Canada and the Government of Nova Scotia
  • The Canadian Occupation Projection System (COPS)
  • Other sources as necessary

The Final Decision on Regional Demand

It is important to remember that final decisions regarding the labour market demand for your intended occupation is in the hands of the Nova Scotia Immigration Officer.

The Immigration Officer has the authority to:

  • Consider only certain types of jobs and occupations
  • Limit occupations which are eligible for another Nominee Program stream
  • To target specific occupations, groups of occupations, occupations in specific industries or occupations in specific sectors of the economy
