Effective December 22, 2014 Citizenship and Immigration Canada has launched a pilot project where those who are eligible to apply for Spousal Sponsorship or Common Law Sponsorship can get their partner an open permit prior to even receiving the approved in principle. Currently has the law has stood as where only to get the approved in principle process as the applicant eligible to apply for an open work permit now you can apply as long as you are considered eligible under the family class. Essentially how you have to do is a complete the application to change my stay or remain in Canada as a worker. You also include the government fee and the necessary documents such as your marriage certificate and so forth and file it with CIC Vegreville, Canada unit 777 and request the Open Work Permit. The idea of this new program is to get those applicants in the work force and be productive members of the society.
