Are you looking at applying for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) for Alberta? There are essentially two steps for this program. The first is to apply under the program and get the nomination. Once you get the nomination, you may apply for Permanent Residency. Under the Alberta Provincial Nominee Program (AINP), there are three different streams. The first is the Employer Driven Stream, where you would require an employer’s assistance to apply for you under the category. The second is the Strategic Recruitment Stream, where you could apply on your own without the assistance of an employer. The last is the Self-Employed Farming Stream, where you may apply as long as you have the necessary resources to apply under this category; this means you would have to be an experienced farmer and also be able to buy/manage a farm in Alberta.

Under the Alberta PNP, there are a few categories in which certain occupations do not qualify. For example, if you work under a professional athlete, clergy, bench workers, primary and secondary school teacher, dental laboratory etc, you cannot apply under the PNP but perhaps under a different route.

Furthermore, refugee claimants who are ordered a removal order against them cannot apply under the Provincial Nominee Program. If you are a Live-in Caregiver in Canada, you may not apply; however, Temporary Workers living in another province may apply if they have resided in Alberta.
