Who Can Sponsor

At Akrami & Associates we get a lot of calls whether or not they can sponsor a friend, cousin, aunt, nephew, wife, children or parents to Canada. To be able to sponsor someone you have to be part of the Family Class. Under the Family Class you can sponsor your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, parents and dependent children. So, uncles, friends, aunts, nephews or distant relatives do not fall under the Family Class and therefore cannot sponsor them for Permanent Residency to Canada.

Other options that would be available is either the Visitor Visa that allows the applicant to stay for only temporary basis in Canada. If the applicant likes to stay in Canada for Permanent Residency there may be other options available to them based on their education, work experience, language, family they have in Canada etc. To determine if there are any other options available you can contact our office and the immigration representative will go over your resume and determine the best route for your immigration needs.
