British Columbia PNP

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program offers a variety of lucrative options in various categories. If you qualify with one of their streams, you will be given a nomination for that province. You will then use this nomination to obtain your permanent resident status in Canada. One such stream of the BC PNP is the Entry Level or Semi-Skilled Worker Category.

In order to be eligible for this program, you must be currently in British Columbia and:

  • work in a specified occupation in the tourism/hospitality, long-haul trucking or food processing industry, or
  • work in a Skill Level C or D occupation (as defined by the National Occupational Classification), within the Northeast Development Region of the province.

Your employer must meet all employer requirements and have an established business within this region.

Your employer will need to be able to demonstrate that they are:

  • Established in British Columbia
  • Have permanent, full-time employees
  • Have a history of good workplace and business practice
  • Offer a full-time job of indeterminate length
  • Offer current market wage rates

Further, employers hiring nominee applicants in the entry-level or semi-skilled category must meet the following additional requirements:

  • Have employed the nominee applicant on a work permit for at least nine consecutive months before the employee applies to the PNP and continue to employ the applicant.
  • Have been in operation for at least two years.

There are also employers who are considered ineligible for this application. he PNP does not accept applications from:

  • Employers involved in producing, distributing or selling pornographic or sexually explicit products, or providing sexually oriented entertainment or services.
  • Employment agencies and similar placement firms unless they are establishing an employer/employee relationship with the applicant.
