Can I Travel as a International Student

Yes, you can travel to your home country as an international student, but you have to understand that a Study Permit is a status document and the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is a document that allows you travel back and forth to Canada. So you need to ensure your study permit is valid as well as the TRV in your passport is stamped that can facilitate your re-turn to Canada.

When planning to exit Canada, ensure that your TRV is a multiple entry, because prior to 2014 immigration Canada used to issue single and multiple entry.

If your TRV has expired but your Study Permit is still valid you can apply for TRV at the consulate of New York or Los Angeles which takes approximately 4 weeks for processing time. So include your passport along with your application so that you can get the stamp on it.

So keep in mind the validity of the passport, the TRV and the Study Permit, so that you are able to continue your studies in Canada and able to travel outside of Canada should the need arise.
