As of early 2017, it was announced that Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now implementing a new approach for processing applications for Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents. IRCC has ambitious goals with regards to these specific sponsorships; they have created an "Interest to Sponsor" form which can help sponsor's indicate their interest in sponsoring their parent or grandparent and allows them to enter for a chance to be randomly selected to apply.
