Express Entry and the LMIA
Are you a foreign national on a Work Permit and had a approved Labour Market Impact Assessment in the past and wondering if you can use this to continue your Express Entry application? Yes, your previous LMIA can be used towards an application under the Express Entry Program. So lets say you received a Positive LMIA January of 2014 and now you are working in Canada it is recommended to apply under the Express Entry Route and include all that information. Employers that want to apply for permanent residency for potential candidates this is good information to know that the candidate has uploaded all the information so that they can be possibly be chosen for permanent residency. The benefit for the employer is that should the applicant be invited for permanent residency the application gets processed within six months or less as promised by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Also, remember funds paid for previous LMIA applications are not refundable.
