False Information or Misrepresentation

If you have provided any information that has been proven to not be accurate or true then it could be classes as misrepresentation.

Depending on the severity of the misrepresentation it may carry out some form of penalties.

What happens if you are found providing false or misrepresented information?

If you have been found giving any false information you automatically run the risk of being banned from re-entering the pool again for 5 years. On top of that you may also end up with a permanent record of fraud with the Citizenship and Immigration Canada and if it is severe enough you may end up being charged with a crime.

It is always important for you to ensure that all of the information that you are providing on your profile and applications remain truthful and accurate at all times.

What is found to be misrepresentation?

Anything that is untrue can be found as a misrepresentation. This can also be included with any false or altered documents such as:

  • Passports or any travel documents that you may be using
  • Visas
  • Diplomas, degrees or any apprenticeship or trades papers, and;
  • Police certificates

If you have been found lying on any of you applications or profiles this can be found as fraud or misrepresentation.

How is fraud being stopped?

Immigration Canada is working with several partners in order to monitor any document fraud that they may encounter. They are also working hard in order to train officers worldwide to ensure that everyone is on the same page and has the ability to stop fraud as early as possible.

Who are the partners working with Immigration Canada?

The partners are:

  • Canadian Border Services Agency
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and;
  • Other foreign police services that issue and identify any documents
