Intra Company Transferee and L1B Visa
If you’re looking at filing a Intra Company Transferee work permit or a L1B visa to the US it is essentially he same thing except, one is to come to Canada and the other is to go to the United States covered under the NAFTA agreement. With the specialised knowledge which the L1B stands for we have to define what specialised knowledge is we have to know what it means. Specialised knowledge is (likewise its name) a special knowledge possessed by the applicant who is going to be transferred to the US organisation with regards to its products, services, research equipment, technique, management, or other trends in the international market. The person (applicant) has unique skills and knowledge about the organization, and how you could demonstrate your unique knowledge about the organization is to provide the immigration officer with documentation as proof of your work.
Some documentation you could include is/are presentations that you have made, for example any power point presentation that will attest you the fact that you have this unique skill of the organisation. Also what you want to inform the officer about is outline the job duties not only in the foreign country but also where you will be doing so once your job offer is granted. In order for your application to be successful, you want to describe/explain your duties as detailed as you will possibly can. An example of doing this would be outlining your day to day activities you perform/will be performing at work. Most importantly, you want to outline the specific duty you have. one of the key things the officer will have to assess if there is someone else, especially if your doing the L1B or if your transferring to Canada under the Nafta Company work transfer for specialised knowledge. The immigration officer will assess the situation and investigate if there is a possibility they can hire someone else to work in the company, that is a citizen or permanent resident, so that they do not have to hire/transfer the foreign worker. As mentioned previously, it is extremely important to add that what is so special about the applicant, what is the unique skill that he has that sets them apart from the other applicants. There are many ways of doing this such as a reference letter, and proving that you understand the duties of the organisation better than others.
So, with specialised knowledge you really want to provide as much detail and as much information as possible for the officer so that there is no questions asked. You want to make sure that you have all the documents ready, review it, see you that this is unique, you can add as many documents you want, enclose your certification, your employment letter, your confirmation letters, your confirmation needs to be very detailed. Don’t just include one or two documents, you should include as many documents as you can to prove that you have specialised knowledge.
