Live in Caregiver Hiring Process

The steps involved in hiring a Live in Caregiver includes first finding a suitable candidate this can be done by going to Job Bank Canada website or looking at different websites in which applicants have provided their resumes through private agencies. Once you have found a suitable candidate as the employer you have to submit a Labour Market Impact Assessment  (LMIA) application. What this means as the employer you have to  demonstrate recruitment efforts to Service Canada by advertising the position for 2 weeks or more for Canadian citizen or Permanent Residents prior to offering the job to a foreign worker. So try to reach out to Canadians as much as possible by posting on different websites and after four weeks of advertising you can submit an LMIA application demonstrating to service Canada you tried to hire Canadians but no suitable candidate was found.

Another important part to hiring a foreign worker is having the employment contract that shows where the applicant will be residing (inside or outside your home), how much they are getting paid, benefits, accommodation details etc. Also include the applicants credentials with the application, once the application is reviewed and the immigration officer is satisfied the employer will get a Positive LMIA. Once the Positive LMIA been received the applicant has to submit a Work Permit application outside of Canada (based on their country of citizenship). The applicant has to include the all necessary documents including the Positive LMIA and pay the government fees. Once the Work Permit has been approved you will be asked to provide your passport to the visa office to get it stamped. Once you arrive in Canada at the Port of Entry you need to ensure you bring all your documents such as Positive LMIA, Approved Work Permit, having your passport stamped, your employment contract as it is the final stage to get reviewed by the immigration officer.
