Posted in Visitor Visa Canada

How much does a visitor visa cost?

Depending on what type of visa or visitor visa you are applying for, the cost varies:

  • A single entry Temporary Resident Visa has a cost of $75 CAD
  • A multiple entry Temporary Resident Visa has a cost of $150 CAD
  • A family Temporary Resident Visa has a cost of $400 CAD regardless of whether it is single or multiple entry

If I have a visitor visa in Canada, can I leave and come back?

There are two basic types of Visitor Visas in Canada: the single or multiple entry visa. A single entry Temporary Resident Visa is for those who only wish to enter Canada once and then exit. In multiple entry visitor visa it allows you to enter and exit Canada for the validity of the Temporary Resident Visa or visitor visa. If you have a single entry visa you'll generally need a new visa to come back to Canada should you exit.

In some cases you may be allowed to exit and re-enter Canada on a single entry temporary resident visa.  For example, travelling to the United States from Canada and only if you intend on returning to Canada before the expiring of your visa is authorized on a single entry visa.

Do I need a Temporary Resident Visa to study in Canada?

In order study in Canada you will first and foremost require a study permit. If you come from a country which is visa exempt you will not require a Temporary Resident Visa or visitor visa in order to study in Canada assuming that you have already obtained your study permit. If you have obtained a Study Permit and come from a country which is not visa exempt, like India for example, you'll need both a Study Permit and Temporary Resident Visa in order to achieve your goals in Canada. In many instances the TRV is processed simultaneously along with your Study Permit to avoid unnecessary delays in processing times.

I have a work permit for Canada, do I need a TRV?

Countries that are considered to be visa exempt do not require any sort of special documentation to enter Canada for temporary reasons. If you come from a country which is considered a visa exempt a work permit would be sufficient for your intended purposes of working in Canada. Should you be applying for a work permit from a country which is considered not to be visa exempt you will also be required to complete an application for Temporary Resident Visa as well as your work permit application.

I got a visitor visa to Canada for business purposes, can I use it later on to travel for tourism?

So long as the validity of yourTemporary Resident Visais still current, you may use its to re-enter Canada as a visitor again.  Also, ensure that it is a multiple entry visa which allows you to enter and exit Canada for the validity of the visa.

Reception was very nice and was sure to answer the questions he could but made sure I was taken care of by a rep at the firm. Shabnam was extremely helpful and I will be calling again when I am ready to proceed.

Shabnam, I wanted to personally thank you for all your hard work and dedication to me and my wife. Our new lives together are all thanks to you. Considering the unique circumstances that initially prevented her, I had lost hope. I will make sure that if anyone I know needs immigration help, I will be sending them your way. Again, I can’t thank you enough.

Fantastic news, I entered Canada without a hitch. Once the guard at the border saw the package you had prepared for me, he took about ten minutes and handed me my permit. What I relief! I don’t know why I ever tried this without you guys! Thank you!
