FSW 2014 Federal Skilled Workers List of Eligible Occupations

The Federal Skilled Worker Program is for individuals who have experience in a particular field and have developed a certain type of skill-set through their work experience. If you feel that you have work experience and can be a valuable addition to Canadian society then the Federal Skilled Worker Program may be an option for you.

If you are interested in applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program, there is great news for you! Your chances of being eligible to apply under the Federal Skilled Worker Program just increased, as Citizenship and Immigration Canada has recently expanded the list of Eligible Occupations to encompass 50 occupations. The list has doubled from 25 to 50 occupations! This means there is a greater chance that you can be considered to come to Canada as a Permanent Residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program.

Effective May 1, 2014, if you have one year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in one of the 50 Eligible Occupations, you are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence status under the Federal Skilled Worker Program. With 50 Eligible Occupations, this also means Citizenship and Immigration Canada is accepting more Federal Skilled Worker applications! A maximum of 1000 applications will be accepted per Eligible Occupation. This means there is greater chance for you to qualify if you meet the other eligibility requirements of the Federal Skilled Worker Program.

The List of Eligible Occupations Has Expanded

The list of Eligible Occupations under the Federal Skilled Worker Program is now broader to include a variety of different types of occupations. Previously, the list of Eligible Occupations was pretty narrow. The previous list of Eligible Occupations contained mostly technical-type positions, such as Engineers. The broadened list of Eligible Occupations now includes other types of jobs, such as administrative, management and health-related positions.

• Early Childhood Educators and Assistants
• Licensed Practical Nurses
• General Practitioners and Family Physicians
• Securities Agents, Investment Dealers and Brokers
• Other Financial Officers
• Financial Auditors and Accountants
• Construction Managers
• Home Building and Renovation Managers
