Exploring the world and gaining work experience: the benefits of Canada’s Youth Mobility Program

The Youth Mobility Program has undoubtedly been a game-changer for young Canadians seeking to explore the world while gaining valuable work experience. This international exchange program has provided over 22,000 Canadian youth with the opportunity to travel and work in approximately 40 different countries each year.

Moreover, it’s worth noting that the program isn’t a one-way street, as it has also facilitated over 36,000 foreign youth working and traveling to Canada. This exchange of culture and experience has been a win-win situation for all involved.

It’s important to highlight that the Youth Mobility Program is not just any ordinary exchange program but a well-structured initiative that exists through agreements made between Canada and participating countries. Each country has unique qualifications and programs, with varying caps on the number of participants. For instance, the agreement between Canada and Poland offers 500 spots for Canadians to travel to Poland and an equal number for Poles to come to Canada.

Some may argue that the program should offer more spots and cover more countries. However, it’s essential to understand that each agreement is a result of careful negotiation and consideration of both countries’ needs and objectives. Therefore, the caps in place reflect a fair distribution of opportunities and resources.

With three program streams available, IEC offers opportunities for individuals to work and live in Canada while gaining valuable skills and experience.

The Working Holiday stream is ideal for those who want to explore Canada with minimal restrictions. With an open work permit, you can work for any employer without the need for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This stream is perfect for those who want to travel around Canada and supplement their travel expenses with work opportunities.

For those seeking professional work experience, the Young Professionals stream is the way to go. This stream offers the opportunity to work for a single Canadian employer and gain valuable experience that can benefit your career in your home country. Whether you’re looking to expand your skillset or gain experience in a new field, the Young Professionals stream can help you achieve your goals.

Finally, the International Co-op Internship stream is tailored for students who wish to complete a work placement or internship in Canada. This stream is specifically designed for students enrolled at a designated post-secondary institution in their home country. If you’re looking to fulfill academic requirements while gaining work experience in Canada, the International Co-op Internship stream is the perfect option for you.

It’s important to note that these program streams are separate, so it’s crucial to carefully select which stream is right for you before submitting your application to IEC. With the right program stream, you can gain valuable experience in Canada and take the first step towards achieving your career goals. So why wait? Start exploring the opportunities available through IEC today.

Why you should know the eligibility requirements for International Experience Canada

Are you interested in participating in the International Experience Canada program, but unsure of the eligibility requirements? We understand that it can be a bit confusing, as the requirements vary depending on your country of citizenship and the program stream you choose to apply to.

However, there are a few general eligibility criteria that are applicable across the board.

  • Applicants must be between 18-35 years old, although there may be variations depending on the country.
  • Is mandatory for the applicant to be a citizen of a country that has entered into an agreement with Canada to support the International Experience Canada program.

While the eligibility requirements may seem daunting, it’s important to remember that this program provides a valuable opportunity for young individuals to gain international work experience and explore new cultures. Our team is here to assist you with any questions you may have and guide you through the process to ensure that you are eligible for the program. Don’t hesitate to contact Akrami & Associates for further information.

How the pools work

It’s important to understand how the IEC pools work to increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for a work permit.

Normally, your IEC profile will remain in the pool until you receive an ITA, until the end of the season when all profiles are removed from the pool(s), or until you’re no longer eligible for the IEC program. This means that even if you don’t receive an ITA in the first round, your profile will still be in the pool for the subsequent rounds.

To increase your chances of receiving an ITA, you should regularly check the IEC schedule to find out when the rounds of invitations for your country and category will start and end, as well as the number of candidates in the pools. This information will help you understand your chances of getting an ITA in the current season.

It’s worth noting that you can submit your IEC profile at any time during the IEC season. However, you should aim to submit your profile as early as possible to increase your chances of receiving an ITA. As long as you submit your profile before the last round of invitations for your country, you may still have a chance of receiving an ITA.

As long as it’s submitted before the final round of invitations for your country, there’s still a chance of success. To increase your chances further and ensure your application is in good hands, it is highly recommended to reach out to Akrami & Associates. Our services can provide the support and expertise needed for a faster and smoother application process. Contact Akrami & Associates today to learn more about our services and how we can help you with your IEC work permit application.

Invitation to apply

The process for issuing Invitations to Apply follows a specific order, as outlined below:

  • International Co-op (Internship)
  • Young Professionals
  • Working Holiday

If your profile is in both the International Co-op (Internship) pool and the Working Holiday pool, you will receive an Invitation to Apply for the International Co-op category. You will only receive an Invitation to Apply for a Working Holiday work permit if there are no spots available in the International Co-op (Internship) category.

Preparing for your IEC Work Permit application

After receiving an Invitation to Apply, you will not automatically be granted a work permit. In order to obtain a work permit, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Provide proof of the information included in your IEC profile
  • Submit additional information related to your education, work history, and background
  • Provide any other requested supporting documents

If you are currently in an IEC pool, it is important to start preparing the necessary supporting documents for your work permit application. Keep in mind that some documents may take several months to obtain, so it’s best to start the process as soon as possible. Remember that you could receive an Invitation to Apply at any time, and there will be a limited time frame to submit your work permit application and documents.
