Federal Skilled Worker Program Work Experience
FSWP: Work Experience
Citizenship and Immigration Canada created the Federal Skilled Worker Program to attract the skilled foreign workers and contribute to Canada’s economy. This specific program provides Canadian employers with an opportunity to hire foreign workers with the skills and trade in demand.
The Federal Skilled Worker Program application is based on a point system. Each factor receives a maximum number of points. The higher culmination of points you receive, the more promising your application is. The selection factors include language, education, age, arranged employment in Canada, adaptability and work experience. Immigration officers view work experience as an asset and an important factor.
It is important to be familiar with the National Occupational Classification (NOC). This matrix provides you with a list of descriptions and responsibilities for each type of job. This is used as a guide to determine if your previous work experience can be associated with any occupation listed at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B.
The total number of points you can receive from this factor is 15 points. The more experience you have, the more points are awarded. The following is a summary of the point system:
EXPERIENCE | POINTS |
1 YEAR | 9 |
1-3 YEARS | 11 |
4-5 YEARS | 13 |
6+ YEARS | 15 |
